87da1278eb test_sundry performs minimal tests (a simple import...) on modules that are not tested otherwise. 
Some of them now have tests and can be removed.
Only 70 to go...

747720540c Add a few tests for pydoc. 
This is a modified version of a patch proposed by Humberto Diogenes
in the discussion of issue1883.

I will merge manually this change into the py3k branch: the tests must be adapted.

2ee4128e9b Remove test.test_support.guard_warnings_filter. 
test.test_support.catch_warning is more full-featured and provides the same
functionality.

Since guard_warnings_filter was added in 2.6 there is no
backwards-compatibility issues.

ade2c216e1 Not sure why this only fails sometimes on Unix machines. Better 
to disable it and only import msvccompiler on Windows since that's
the only place it can work anyways.

478b99b89f Add all of the distuils modules that don't seem to have explicit tests. :-( 
Move an import in mworkscompiler so that this module can be imported on
any platform.  Hopefully this works on all platforms.

c249bdab92 Have mimify raise a DeprecationWarning. The docs and PEP 4 have listed the 
module as deprecated for a while.

d75f043c33 Remove the gopherlib module. It has been raising a DeprecationWarning since 
Python 2.5.

Also remove gopher support from urllib/urllib2.  As both imported gopherlib the
usage of the support would have raised a DeprecationWarning.

e2c9a6cea7 Suppress new deprecation warnings when running the 
test suite.

For urllib2, move the import of gopherlib into the
only function that uses it:  users (including the
test suite) certainly shouldn't see a deprecation
warning just because they import urllib2!  If they
actually use gopher_open(), fine, _then_ they should
see a deprecation warning.

04f357cffe Get rid of relative imports in all unittests. Now anything that 
imports e.g. test_support must do so using an absolute package name
such as "import test.test_support" or "from test import test_support".

This also updates the README in Lib/test, and gets rid of the
duplicate data dirctory in Lib/test/data (replaced by
Lib/email/test/data).

Now Tim and Jack can have at it. :)

d74804db41 The "user" module cannot reasonably be tested. Moved to the end (and 
commented it out), and added an explanation as to *why*.

Added period to docstring.
