9e398cac94 Fix SF bug #1545837: array.array borks on deepcopy. 
array.__deepcopy__() needs to take an argument, even if it doesn't actually

9b0ca79213 Patch #1519025 and bug #926423: If a KeyboardInterrupt occurs during 
a socket operation on a socket with a timeout, the exception will be
caught correctly.  Previously, the exception was not caught.

6e73aaab47 Patch #1503046, Conditional compilation of zlib.(de)compressobj.copy 
copy is only in newer versions of zlib.  This should allow zlibmodule
to work with older versions like the Tru64 buildbot.

b713ec2531 Bug #1334662 / patch #1335972: int(string, base) wrong answers. 
In rare cases of strings specifying true values near sys.maxint,
and oddball bases (not decimal or a power of 2), int(string, base)
could deliver insane answers.  This repairs all such problems, and
also speeds string->int significantly.  On my box, here are %
speedups for decimal strings of various lengths:

length speedup

 2       15.7%
 3       20.6%
 4       28.1%
 5       33.2%
 6       37.5%
 7       41.9%
 8       46.3%
 9       51.2%
10       19.5%
11       19.9%
12       23.9%
13       23.7%

16       25.3%
17       28.3%
18       27.9%
19       35.7%

Note that the difference between 9 and 10 is the difference between
short and long Python ints on a 32-bit box.  The patch doesn't
actually do anything to speed conversion to long:  the speedup is
due to detecting "unsigned long" overflow more quickly.

This is a bugfix candidate, but it's a non-trivial patch and it
would be painful to separate the "bug fix" from the "speed up" parts.

6dbff33be8 SF bug/patch #1433877: string parameter to ioctl not null terminated 
The new char-array used in ioctl calls wasn't explicitly NUL-terminated;
quite probably the cause for the test_pty failures on Solaris that we
circumvented earlier. (I wasn't able to reproduce it with this patch, but it
has been somewhat elusive to start with.)

1da4a94719 Add Gregory K. Johnson's revised version of mailbox.py (funded by 
the 2005 Summer of Code).

The revision adds a number of new mailbox classes that support adding
and removing messages; these classes also support mailbox locking and
default to using email.Message instead of rfc822.Message.

The old mailbox classes are largely left alone for backward compatibility.
The exception is the Maildir class, which was present in the old module
and now inherits from the new classes.  The Maildir class's interface
is pretty simple, though, so I think it'll be compatible with existing
code.

(The change to the NEWS file also adds a missing word to a different
news item, which unfortunately required rewrapping the line.)

8220174489 Python on OS X 10.3 and above now uses dlopen() (via dynload_shlib.c) 
to load extension modules and now provides the dl module. As a result,
sys.setdlopenflags() now works correctly on these systems. (SF patch
#1454844)

93f5b93422 The email module's parsedate_tz function now sets the daylight savings 
flag to -1 (unknown) since it can't tell from the date whether it should
be set.

05a45599d7 Patch #1309579: wait3 and wait4 were added to the posix module by Chad J. Schroeder. 
This was a fair amount of rework of the patch.  Refactored test_fork1 so it
could be reused by the new tests for wait3/4.  Also made them into new style
unittests (derive from unittest.TestCase).

c2e20744b2 PEP 343 -- the with-statement. 
This was started by Mike Bland and completed by Guido
(with help from Neal).

This still needs a __future__ statement added;
Thomas is working on Michael's patch for that aspect.

There's a small amount of code cleanup and refactoring
in ast.c, compile.c and ceval.c (I fixed the lltrace
behavior when EXT_POP is used -- however I had to make
lltrace a static global).

This didn't crash on Linux, but valgrind complained.

3e0055f8c6 Merge ast-branch to head 
This change implements a new bytecode compiler, based on a
transformation of the parse tree to an abstract syntax defined in
Parser/Python.asdl.

The compiler implementation is not complete, but it is in stable
enough shape to run the entire test suite excepting two disabled
tests.
