# First steps with uv

After [installing uv](./installation.md), you can check that uv is available by running the `uv`
|
|
command:
|
|
|
|

|
|
$ uv
|
|
An extremely fast Python package manager.
|
|
|
|
Usage: uv [OPTIONS] <COMMAND>
|
|
|
|

|
|
```

|
|
|
You should see a help menu listing the available commands.
|
|
|
|
